School For Stateless And Marginalised Children - sfsamc - introduction

Education is a fundamental human right guaranteed under Article 26 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Like all human rights, it is universal and inalienable—every child, regardless of ethnicity, religion, nationality, economic status or gender, is entitled to it.

SFSAMC - School For Stateless And Marginalised ChildrenDespite the Malaysian Government’s full commitment in providing quality education to its citizens, there are still numbers of excluded children that don’t have any access to compulsory fundamental education.

These excluded children include those from extremely impoverished backgrounds who lack formal identification papers and also children of refugees and migrant workers. Most of these children do not have the opportunity to go to school, thus depriving them of any formal education.

Living on the margins of society, deprived and without the benefit of an education, these children are easily cornered into petty crimes and lured by unscrupulous adults into gangs, drug peddling and sex work. Such lifestyles are not conducive for their long-term well being and the ramifications on society as a whole can be devastating.

We believe that through education, we can significantly improve the future of these children and the greater community.
